Our client a successful and busy General Contractor located in Coquitlam is looking for a Service Supervisor to join their team.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to insure the smooth running of a variety of construction and service projects. You may be starting out in your career looking to move away from hands on field work or you may be an experienced Construction Service Supervisor looking to further develop your skills with a dynamic and growing company.  

As Service Supervisor your mandate will be  to maximize the customer service experience  while balancing the needs of the client with the bottom line and the business objectives. You bring to this position your outstanding people skills with the ability to get along with co- workers, suppliers, subcontractors and clients.  You have demonstrated  common sense and  an ability to problem solve while maintaining diplomacy, tact and discretion.

You will act as the liason between project managers, project administrators, trades, subcontractors and the client. You will assume responsibility for the smooth functioning of a variety of projects and will take responsibility and ownership for client and supplier relations as well as quality control. You will assist with delegating work to field staff, contractors and trades people ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will keep the lines of communication open between all parties involved with the timely completion of service and construction projects.  You will spend time at a variety of sites so vehicle travel within the Lower Mainland is required, so you must have your own reliable transportation.

Duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Act as liaison and coordinator between subcontractors, contractors, project managers, project coordinators  and the client

  • Maintain strong client and supplier relations

  • Balance multiple construction  projects of varying size

  • Assist with scheduling and directing  work crews

  • Assure quality control

  • Assist with scheduling  equipment and subcontractors

  • Perform inspections of work performed and report deficiencies

  • Follow up regarding construction and post construction deficiencies and insure timely resolutions for any and all issues as they arise in a manner which ensures client satisfaction  as well as profitability for the employer

  • Protect the business  interests by clearly  defining  and communicating  expectations

  • Maintain a log for each project and submit written reports to Project Managers and/or clients  as needed

  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualifications experience and attributes:

  • Previous hands on field experience as well as supervisory and/or customer service experience in a construction discipline.

  • Driven to succeed  with the desire to commit to a career in the construction industry and develop your skills further over the long term

  • Combination of work experience in a similar role and/or industry related trade certification /education

  • Familiar with construction methodology and practices.

  • Ability to plan and manage a project schedule

  • Understanding of construction documents  with the ability to ensure that they are complete

  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets

  • Diplomatic with the ability to move the team forward in conflict situations.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects as well as multiple personalities

  • Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Project

  • A positive, entrepreneurial, proactive can-do  attitude

  • Strong organizational abilities with well honed time management skills

  • Solutions oriented with strong business sense

 

This position will pay an industry competitive salary in the range of $45,000 to $55,000, reimbursement for mileage, benefits after 3 months and possible performance bonus opportunities for the right individual.
