Our client, a food manufacturer, located in Vancouver is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team. In this role you will serve as the primary go to person with regards to financial planning and period-end result preparation, inventory costing and budget/forecast requirements.
Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Responsible for the month-end and year-end closing process for the including the preparation of period-end journal entries, operating statements, assisting in variance analysis compared to budget and assisting with external audit requirements
Overseeing and reviewing period-end balance sheet account reconciliations for and questioning variances.
Overseeing capital expenditure projects on a monthly basis for Vancouver operations. More specifically to monitor expenditures incurred to date vs. approved amounts/budget and to question respective departments on variances.
To work closely with the Purchasing Department in gaining confidence over packaging materials (i.e. quantity and cost) and questioning variances.
Prepare monthly inventory reconciliation for the Vancouver Operations tracking all inventory quantities (i.e. raw material, work in progress, finished goods, storeroom, packaging and operating materials).
Yearly budgeting process
Direct and coordinate the budgeting process including providing preliminary data to operating departments, calculating budget estimates for areas assigned, and participating in budget review.
Monitor and reconcile the budget upload of Vancouver to the financial information system (i.e. Navision)
Quarterly forecasting process
Direct and coordinate the forecasting process including providing preliminary data to operating departments, calculating budget estimates for areas
assigned, and participating in forecast review, as required.
Income tax Filing
Responsible for ensuring internal controls for financial reporting are being respected as set
out by company policies.
Providing assistance to Vancouver departments on any financial inquiries which they may have.
Working closely with the Vancouver payroll department in verifying deduction at source payments, journal entry postings and month-end account reconciliations.
To take part in special projects as they arise.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, most specifically Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or International Financial Reporting Standards.
The salary for this position will be $65,000 - $70,000 per year, plus 3 weeks’ vacation & excellent benefits and RSP.
