Our client, located close to Downtown Vancouver is looking for a dynamic, results oriented HR Generalist/Supervisor to join their team. Due to a recent acquisition, our client is redesigning and rebuilding their HR department and is looking to hire a dynamic HR professional that will help to lead the culture shift and redefine the way HR services their employee groups. This newly created role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and internal consulting to the internal management group and will help to lead the company by adding-value to the bottom-line through HR knowledge and experience, application and superior customer service. As a valued member of the management team you will be servicing a unionized and non- unionized group of employees. You will be proactive and collaborative in collective bargaining as needed and oversee the day to day HR operations in the Vancouver office.


Duties and responsibilities will include the following:


  • In partnership with the HR leadership team, support the client group's long-term and short-term objectives.

  • Identify and communicate to the client group as a knowledgeable HR practitioner on organisational trends and industry best practices in the areas of employee relations, compensation, recruitment & selection and organization and development.

  • Planning and implementing projects (timelines and milestones) for key initiatives.

  • Providing consultation on issues related to legal and procedural compliance, employee relations and performance management.

  • Assisting and coaching client group to acquire skills and knowledge for effectively handling and resolving employee issues and managing change.

  • Delivering coaching, guidance and support relevant to the needs of client groups in areas such as: leadership skills, performance management, diversity and workplace policies and effective teamwork.

  • Partnering with client groups to improve HR practices, process decisions and programs. Assisting clients in building effective practices to meet business and employee needs in such areas as compensation and rewards, communication and health and safety.

  • Participating in and contributing to collective agreement bargaining and assisting with the interpretation and administration of same

  • Oversee employee recognition programs and organize staff and company events

  • Supervise an HR assistant and a Payroll and Benefits Administrator

The successful candidate will have the following skills, qualifications and attributes:


  • A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible Human Resources experience, preferably as a generalist.

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.

  • Solid labour relations and collective bargaining experience

  • Outstanding coaching skills with the desire to provide ongoing support and guidance to the supervisory team

  • Post secondary degree/diploma with concentration in business/Human Resources and/or CHRP designation and equivalent work experience.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders and confidential/sensitive information.

  • Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to understand broad Human Resource issues.

  • Strong background in employee relations is required with demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation.

  • Results orientation.

  • Excellent facilitation/presentation skills.

  • Outside of the box thinker who enjoys a challenge and wants to bring new ideas to the table

  • An asset to have an understanding of payroll operations



This position will offer compensation in the range of $70,000- $80,000 with excellent benefits.

Due to the location we recommend that candidates have their own reliable transportation rather than relying on transit. Parking will be provided.
